Fellowship-Trained and Board-Certified Orthopedic Specialist Now Performing Advanced Foot & Ankle Reconstruction Surgeries
Healthpointe is proud to announce that Dr. Zenia E. Cortés is now performing advanced foot and ankle reconstruction surgeries to assist patients with severe orthopedic cases. As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Cortés specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of sports medicine, and foot and ankle injuries. She is also trained to perform advanced Foot and Ankle Reconstruction to assist patients with their orthopedic needs. Dr. Cortés is also fluent in Spanish.
Reconstructive surgical procedures for the foot and ankle are exceptionally complex and demand a high level of precision, which is why a trained specialist, such as Dr. Zenia E. Cortés, should handle such tasks. Dr. Cortés utilizes Foot and Ankle Reconstruction Surgery to relieve pain and discomfort caused by sports injuries, trauma, fractures, arthritis and anatomic abnormality. Surgical procedures are aimed to repair strength, regain function and provide stabilization. Reconstruction may involve removing abnormalities, realigning bones, transferring tendons, repairing joints, and treating other foot and ankle conditions.
Dr. Cortés has years of experience in the orthopedic field and impeccable background and training. She first received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of California, Riverside. She then earned her Medical Degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Medicine. After completing her internship and residency at the University of Rochester in New York, she then obtained a dual fellowship in Sports Medicine and Foot & Ankle Reconstruction at the University of Texas in Houston.
She is currently on the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, and American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society. Dr. Cortés also completed a highly-respected AO Trauma Fellowship in Barcelona, Spain. She has also published and presented articles for a wide variety of medical journals and associations, including The American Journal of Sports Medicine, The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Foot and Ankle International, Clinical Orthopedics and Related Research, and the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. She can also be found on Univision TV as a medical consultant for their live medical segments.
Dr. Cortés currently has practice locations in La Mirada, Garden Grove and Ontario.
