What is a Functional Capacity Evaluation and Physical Abilities Testing?
Does your employee have the strength to perform his/her job? Can he/she return to work? Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) measure how well your employees can use their arms, legs, and core muscles in daily work.
How it Works
Your employee’s range of motion will be tested through simulated work tasks, and monitored by computerized exams. The results of the exams are printed in clear and concise summaries that simplify the difficult process of case management and case resolution.
Our FCEs measure range of motion, lifting capacity, dexterity, aerobic capacity, grip/pinch strength, functional abilities, and postural tolerance through precise equipment and testing stations. Analog signals from the equipment are converted into digital signals, entered into a computer, analyzed, and translated by the computer into precise objective readings.
We document objective functional abilities compared to essential job demands. If there is evidence of symptom magnification, our reports provide detailed reasoning for such, and physicians take appropriate action. Physicians can confidently release claimants to full or modified duty based on the results of the test.
Why Choose FCE at Healthpointe?
Getting your employee evaluated can mean less sick time, a better understanding of the injury, and a quicker return to work. As a result, you will most likely end up paying less in claims and leaves of absences, and experience higher ROIs when we help bring your employee up to his or her highest level of productivity.
- Accurate work restrictions for employees so that they can be returned to work or modified duties.
- If there is no apparent reason why your employee cannot work, our physicians will provide substantive information based on test findings.
- Provide a response to employees who repeatedly ask for a change in physician or treatment plans.
- Serve as an investigatory tool for employees with multiple outstanding workers’ compensation claims.
- Return employees to full or modified duties with far less fear of re-injury.
- Employees can progress through the treatment, building confidence.
- Identify employees with complaints that do not make sense.
