Healthpointe Holiday Drive Raises Donations for Survivors of Domestic Abuse
A Group Effort and Holiday Success!
Healthpointe is proud to announce completion of yet another successful holiday donation drive! From November 4th through November 22nd, Healthpointe’s 11 locations came together to collect a myriad of non-perishable food items, clothing, children’s shoes, toiletry items, cleaning supplies, toys, and more, for the Women’s & Children’s Crisis Shelter that is based in Whittier, California.
Why the Women’s & Children’s Crisis Shelter?
The Women’s & Children’s Crisis Shelter started when community members from The Southern California Coalition on Battered Women launched a 24-hour assistance hotline in 1977, that began receiving calls almost immediately. They found so much success, that they decided that they wanted to do more to help, and subsequently rented out a house in Whittier in 1978 that has been open for 24-hours ever since. The shelter is dedicated to helping victims of domestic abuse at all stages, and offers all of their programs free-of-charge. They have a rich history and strong values, and have been giving back and supporting their community for over 40 years to date.
The shelter would not be what it is today without all of the help it has received from the local communities around it, which is one of the many reasons why we at Healthpointe decided to host this donation drive to support the survivors of domestic abuse that they house, protect, and care for. Healthpointe is both proud and humbled to have been able to support their efforts and mission, and the individuals and families that they so diligently serve, and we look forward to being able to continue to support our local communities in the near and distant future.
