The Many Benefits of Chiropractic Care
There are many benefits to chiropractic care.
As you may or may not know, chiropractic care is one of the most sought-out treatments for pain. People who suffer from joint pain, sport injuries, muscle strains, or even those involved in accidents seek chiropractic care. For instance, it is reported that there is a 72% success rate in treating sciatica pain with chiropractic care.[1
Why do we choose chiropractic care?
Chiropractic treatment is unique in the sense that chiropractors use hands-on techniques to manipulate the joints and muscles without resorting to surgery. The idea behind chiropractic care is that chiropractors perform adjustments in order to enable the body to heal itself and restore normal function and mobility. Chiropractic care is also used in conjunction with conventional medical treatment that may be provided by other doctors, such as orthopedists.
The main focal point of chiropractic care is that there is a huge emphasis on reducing the use of medication and preventing surgery. Many chiropractors offer nutrition plans and advice on exercise because the general belief is that the body has an amazing, innate ability to heal itself. However, this is not to say that chiropractic care is for all medical conditions.
More importantly, we choose chiropractic care because it helps treat the cause of your symptoms instead of masking them. Moreover, chiropractic care is low-risk. What that means is that the most common side effect is soreness or achiness at the area of the treatment, compared to the potentially more serious risk associated with medications or surgery.
How can a chiropractor help me?
A chiropractor can help by taking a patient’s medical history and then preforming a physical examination. From there a chiropractor will formulate an appropriate treatment plan and establish whether chiropractic care is appropriate for that patient. Additional diagnostic studies may be recommended or performed.
Once the chiropractor creates a treatment plan they can then perform one or more manual adjustments. The adjustments are done by using controlled and precise forces to improve range, and quality, of motion. The goal is to restore normal function, provide relief, and get patients back to engaging in the activities they love.
Additionally, chiropractors may also educate you about your posture. Good posture is key! We live in a modern world with lots of technology and spend most of our time hunched over our cell phones, iPad/tablets, and laptops. This means that we have our backs hunched over and necks bent which causes stress and pressure along our neck and back.
Chiropractic treatment can be used for more than just neck and back pain. Other problems that may be addressed include, but are not limited to:
- Sciatica pain
- Headaches
- Mental health
- Colic and ear infection
- Neurological conditions
- Blood pressure
- Surgery prevention
- Frozen Shoulder
The reason why chiropractic care can treat so many conditions is because it understands that the nerves, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints are all interconnected and can be manipulated for the better. It’s always a good idea to consult a chiropractor for musculoskeletal issues, as they can help improve your function and relieve most pains. Don’t put a hold on your general well-being; come visit our chiropractors for a better, healthier lifestyle.
