Healthpointe Welcomes Dr. Torrey A. Parry!
Born and raised in Lake Elsinore, CA, Dr. Torrey A. Parry has established himself as a professional of the highest regard with more than ten years of experience in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. He currently works as an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist at Healthpointe Medical Group out of our Ontario, Perris, Colton, Corona, Long Beach, Los Angeles, La Mirada, and Temecula offices.
“I have always had a passion for learning about science, figuring out how things work, and helping others,” says Dr. Parry.
“Because of this, I knew I wanted to be a doctor from a very young age. I am very grateful that I now have the chance to live out my dream. Orthopedics was the perfect field for me. My love for sports translated into a desire to learn about the musculoskeletal system,” he continues.
He then gave some further background on his lifelong experience with understanding orthopedics.
“Most of my family works in construction, so growing up we were always using tools to work on projects around the house. With orthopedic surgery, I am able to use my knowledge, skills, and tools to fix broken bodies. I am board certified in orthopedic surgery, where I learned how to treat all musculoskeletal injuries. I did an extra year of training in orthopedic sports medicine to advance my skills for arthroscopic and open surgical treatment of the shoulder and knee.”
Educational Experiences
Dr. Parry studied Biology at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego in 2008, and became a Doctor of Medicine at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. Afterwards, from 2014 to 2019, he went to study at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. , and served as the Chief Resident of Orthopedic Surgery during his last year there.
“It was amazing learning about musculoskeletal care while getting the unique opportunity to spend 5 years in our nation’s capital,” stated Dr. Parry regarding his time at George Washington University. He then expanded upon further experience back home in California.
“Following that, I did a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at Hoag in Orange County. This gave me the opportunity to care for workers and injured athletes from all levels of competition—youth, collegiate, professional, and recreational.”
Working on the Field
From 2019 to 2020, Dr. Parry served as an Assistant Team Physician for the Los Angeles Chargers. He was also able to work for the greater NFL organization, administering orthopedic evaluations in 2017, as well as performing physicals and addressing player history in the 2020 NFL combine.
“I’ve enjoyed watching and playing sports for as long as I can remember,” stated Dr. Parry. He added that “finding out there was a field of medicine that provided the opportunity to care for injured athletes made orthopedic sports medicine an obvious choice for me. Additionally, sports medicine has a large focus in arthroscopic surgery, which I enjoy.”
His experience working with the Chargers would prove to be significant and valuable to his future.
“Working with the Chargers was amazing. This gave me the opportunity to see the NFL from a whole new perspective. I was able to help care for professional athletes at practice, in the training room, and on the field. I also got to do some traveling with the team. The only downside is that watching games from the stands or on TV isn’t as exciting anymore after getting to watch them from the sideline.”
From 2020 to 2025, he also worked as an Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine specialist at The CORE Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
Dedication to Patients
Dr. Parry’s commitment to delivering high quality care is his top priority, stating:
“I love having the opportunity to work with someone in a moment of need and give them the best chance to restore their function. It’s great to play a part in getting patients back to their daily activities, occupation, sports, and hobbies. Injuries can be devastating to so many aspects of life. It is incredibly rewarding when I get to help restore what was taken away.”
When he isn’t working, Dr. Parry spends his time with his wife and daughter. “We enjoy going to the beach, the zoo, and the park. I also enjoy going to new restaurants, traveling, and watching sports.”
We are proud to welcome Dr. Parry onto the team here at Healthpointe, and look forward to his significant contributions, as well as the amazing treatment he’s ready to provide for our patients.
