Healthpointe welcomes PM&R and Pain Management specialist, Dr. Arel
We are thrilled to introduce you to our newest team member, dedicated and compassionate PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) and Pain Management provider, Dr. Aaron Arel, D.O., who is ready to make a positive impact on our patients’ journey to recovery and well-being.
Dr. Arel is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. He completed his residency training at John Hopkins Hospital, as well as fellowship training in at the University of Texas. Dr. Arel brings to Healthpointe his passion for patient recovery and a deep understanding of comprehensive rehabilitation techniques. Driven by his commitment to healing, he is eager to support and motivate individuals on their path to improved health and well-being.
From a young age, Dr. Arel was inspired by his family to pursue a career in medicine.
“My grandfather was a veterinarian, and my mother was a dentist. They were both significant role models for me growing up, so I always knew I wanted to do something in the medical field.”
Guided by his family’s legacy, Dr. Arel has developed a patient-centered approach that combines empathy with his technical expertise.
When asked about what he enjoys the most about being a PM&R and Pain Management physician, Dr. Arel shared,
“My favorite part of my specialty is the ability to perform an injection on a patient, allowing them to experience pain relief immediately, sometimes for the first time in years or months. It’s the closest that we can get to ‘magic’ in our world.”
His dedication to alleviating pain and restoring function drives his practice, ensuring each patient receives targeted, compassionate care.
Beyond his clinical role, Dr. Arel is a parent, and family remains at the heart of his life outside of work.
“I have a 7-month-old son, and I treasure every moment watching him grow and learn. My wife and I are also avid beach volleyball players, and we play whenever we can find a babysitter,” he shares.
Dr. Arel also has a unique passion for the ‘Underwater Torpedo League,’ a sport he describes as a blend of rugby and water polo played underwater. This commitment to balance in his personal life fuels his focus and empathy with patients in his professional life.
Dr. Arel’s extensive background in diverse clinical settings—from rural towns to major hospitals and private clinics across the U.S.—has given him a practical understanding of treatment that spans a wide range of patient needs.
His approach, guided by his fellowship training, centers on a clear, step-by-step plan:
“For every patient, my job is simple—identify the problem and find the best way to fix it. That means using a variety of diagnostic tools, including EMG/NCS, imaging studies, and diagnostic injections, along with interventional procedures, referrals, and medications.”
This structured yet adaptable methodology allows him to create personalized, effective care plans that meet each patient’s unique needs.
